Starting A Culinary Herb Container Garden

Herbs. The plants that add so much flavor to our food!

This is my third year gardening and I've finally started adding more herbs to the garden. I honestly can't believe it has taken me this long!
I, of course, have tried to have cilantro in the garden each year. I have the rosemary and the lavender, but that was the extent of my herb garden.

I started down the path of how to get more pollinators and the good bugs in to my garden. Something that kept coming up was herbs. That first sparked my interest. Then I started paying attention to how much I actually use different herbs and spices. I went on to Baker Creek and added herb seeds to my cart!
I had the classic genovese basil. Then I found lemon basil; this one was a must for me! I saw orangelo thyme, which intrigued me! I added a mint mix, dill seeds, and cumin seeds. I saw that there was a dwarf lemon cilantro (have I mentioned my love for all things lemon); in to my cart it went!

Then I was at my local grocery store and what should I stumble across? A variegated lemon thyme!
It's beautiful and smells heavenly! Seemed like the perfect addition to my herb garden. By this time I was on a roll and there was no stopping me! After that I added Italian oregano and sweet marjoram.
So far, I have the mint, variegated lemon thyme, and dill in the grow bags. I planted the marjoram and the oregano in some pots. I will probably also plant the cumin and orangelo thyme in containers. The lemon basil is going to go straight in to my raised bed.
I've never sat down and thought about how cumin grows. This is a very intriguing process to see.
Have I mentioned how much I love lemon? 😁
