My Seed Starting Supplies
Happy New Year!
Now that 2022 is here, it's time to start seeds for the spring garden here in zone 8b.
The first thing you need is a good light source. My house receives barely any natural light. I'm not one of those people who can just place their seedlings in a window and that's it. I went to Walmart and found a 4 foot long shop light with 5500 lumen. I found this light for $14!
The next thing I have is some seed starting mix. This is the Jiffy Natural & Organic Seed Starting mix. I purchased this a while ago so I'm going to finish the bag. I know there are books and blogs out there that have ideas on making your own seed staying mix. One day I will attempt that!
Thirdly, I'm using good, old solo cups to start my seeds in. I have put a couple of holes in the bottom and placed them inside of a plastic tray. I am using the bottom watering method.
And there you have it! The things I'm using to start seeds. I will be sharing soon my plan for the garden this year and the seeds that I plan on growing.
Until next time, happy sprouting!
