Thinking about the Spring Garden

  Today I pulled out my seeds and started going through them. I honestly didn't realize how many I had collected in the last year, oops. I have many things I want to plant and I'm trying to narrow down what I want to focus on this upcoming season. 

  I have three raised beds; two 4x8 beds and one 4x10 bed. As a new gardener, I don't feel like I've quite mastered the art of knowing how big things are really going to grow. Who would've known that the Alabama Red okra I planted was going to grow 10 feet tall. Certainly not I. 

 One of my top plans for this upcoming season is to grow paste tomatoes. I would love to try my hand at canning tomato sauces, pasta sauces, and such. I currently have the Amish Paste tomato and just ordered a new variety that was introduced at Baker Creek- the Korean Long Tomato. I'm excited to embark on this endeavor. Also, last year I wasn't succesful at growing any sort of peppers. I'm hoping to change that this year!
